Hot Diggity Dog

I decided to try something from Pinterest to make with the kids. If they help make it, they'll eat it right? Nate, who is two, loves hotdogs and noodles, and anything covered in sauce. The messier the better. Emma, who is 4, is very picky. She loves hotdogs, and on occasion noodles, as long as they have no sauce. I think my children inherited their love of hotdogs from my mom, it skipped me. She just left from a Christmas visit and left of course, hot dogs. :) As I was searching I came across octopuses made from hotdogs and spaghetti noodles. I raided the pantry and didn't have spaghetti, but I had fettuccine noodles.  So we worked with what we had.

Cheese hotdogs, because cheese makes everything better, and fettuccine noodles.

I cut the hotdogs in thirds and then broke the noodles in half and used 8 per hotdog piece. After I showed Emma how to make one she was able to make them herself. I helped Nate poke the noodles into the hotdogs. He was pretty excited.

I put them into salted boiling water for about 8 minutes, so that the noodles were al dente. We had enough for two batches.  I didn't want to crowd the pot and risk pulling out the noodles the kids so carefully help put in. I scooped them out with a bamboo handled stainless steel strainer.  It's pretty handy.

Voila hotdog octopuses. I actually like the way the fettuccine noodles looked versus the spaghetti I saw all over Pinterest. As a side note we cooked the rest of the fettuccine and made a butter, parmesan cheese, and cracked pepper sauce that was pretty tasty. Nate and everyone else who likes sauce enjoyed it. When my oldest son walked into the kitchen Emma exclaimed, "Look Preston. I made that. I'm a chef!" It's a start sweet girl.

I also like to do my nails. I usually do it when Nate is taking a nap or everyone is asleep. So we'll call it a naptime mani.

This is my naptime mani currently.

I used these polishes. I'm not sure what the gold metallic or pink metallic is called. I received them in a gift set. I used Sally Hanson Salon Manicure base coat, the metallics, Sinful Colors Gilded over the tops of both the accent nails and the rest for two different looks, and Sally Hanson Mega Shine top coat.

I firmly believe you can use basically any polish you like as long as you use a decent base coat and top coat. I was going to buy a nail polish pump online, then the other day while in Walgreens stumbled on this nail polish remover. It has a snap on lid so you could throw it in a drawer and not worry about it. It also took off my old polish fairly easily, even glitter. So that's a plus for sure.
